Emotix, a startup by two IIT Bombay alumnus Vaswani, Prashant V Iyengar and Chintan S Raikar has launched a personal robot for children called ‘Miko 2’. The robots is said to help parents in early education and development of kids by engaging in playful learning, Indian Express has reported.

The WiFi-operated robot costing Rs 24,999, will be available from sale from 15 December. The can initiate and have long conversations and can teach academic and general knowledge. It comes with an emotional intelligence engine which can detect moods of children and adapt to them.

The Miko 2 is an upgrade from last year’s Miko. The new one can see, hear, sense, express, talk, remember names and faces, sense moods and learn from its surroundings.

Miko 2 comes loaded with games, rhymes, fun facts, music, dance etc. and can be loaded with more content. It comes with content from ICSE curriculum, Storywalker and Amar Chitra Katha stories. Parents can video call the robot to monitor children and it has a parental dashboard to track and guide their engagement with the robot.

The new features of the robot also include HD camera, active noise cancellation microphones and edge sensors to save it from falling off edges likes tables or stairs.

Vaswani said, “Our aim is to create machines on human patterns and blur the distinction between physical, digital and biological walls to solve grave consumer problems Miko 2 is an affirmation of our commitment to make learning powerful, yet fun and simple,”.
