Amid Coronavirus Pandemic, J&K Government Asks Its Employees To Attend Offices On Alternate Weeks

In a move to combat coronavirus threat, the Jammu & Kashmir government on Friday (20 March) passed an order asking government employees in the Union Territory to attend their offices on alternate weeks barring those associated with the coronavirus control efforts and essential services.
"The concerned heads of the offices shall draft a weekly roster of duty for all employees who shall attend the offices on alternative weeks till further others," read the order issued by Additional Secretary Rohit Sharma.
Earlier on Wednesday (18 March), the first case of coronavirus was recorded in J&K. A resident of Khanyar area in Srinagar tested positive for Covid-19, Jammu and Kashmir administration confirmed. According to authorities, the patient had a history of international travel and arrived in India on 16 March.
Following this, the UT administration decided to shut down all public places in Jammu and Srinagar. Furthermore, section 144 has been imposed in several districts of the UT.
