The government has reportedly shifted around 70 pro-Pakistan terrorists and separatists from prisons in Jammu and Kashmir to Central Jail in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday (8 August) amid tight security.

A special plane carrying around 70 prisoners landed in Kheria airport in Agra on Thursday (8 August) afternoon, from where they were transferred to the Central jail under heavy security, India Today has reported.

Other reports, however, pegged the number of transferred prisoners between 26 to 30.

The vehicles carrying the prisoners to the jail were reportedly covered with thick cloth. The security at the jail has been enhanced, with additional forces, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) posted outside the prison, reports Hindustan Times.

According to a Times of India report, a senior official of the prisons department said, “Based on the directions of the central government, several high-profile prisoners from various jails in J&K have been shifted to Agra Central Jail. They have been kept in a special cell away from other prisoners. The entire matter is related to national security and further details cannot be revealed.”
