BSP supremo Mayawati and SP president Akhilesh Yadav.
Within hours of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati proposing an anti-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) front in Uttar Pradesh, former chief minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has accepted the scheme, saying he is "ready for alliance against propaganda".
“I am ready for alliance against propaganda. I will duly perform my role in the alliance,” Yadav said, talking to reporters in Lucknow.
Earlier on Friday, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said she was ready to join hands with other political parties to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the issue of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering in the recent assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The SP president continued his tirade against the Yogi Adityanath-led state government and made sardonic remarks on various issues such as anti-Romeo squads, ban on cow slaughter etc.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
