Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-designate Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today (26 May) reached Delhi and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence and extended an invitation for him to attend his oath-taking ceremony scheduled to be held on May 30 in Vijayawada, reports The New Indian Express.

Modi and Jagan both congratulated each other on their massive victories in the elections which just concluded.

Reddy, during the meet, sought the centre's assistance to improve the public finances of the state, which have been left in a poor condition. In the meantime, Reddy also raised the issue of special category status to his state along with a request to fast-track the completion of the Polavaram Project.

It is also reported that Reddy asked the prime minister to help hasten the division of assets between the Andhra and Telangana in pursuance to the Schedules 9 and 10 of the AP Reorganisation Act.

While campaigning for the elections, Reddy had strongly suggested that his party would back whosoever would promise Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh. Reddy’s YSRCP got an absolute majority in the Assembly, ousting N Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) from power in the state.
