In a major move towards absolute return of normalcy to the Kashmir Valley post the deoperationalisation of the contentious Article 370, the Indian Railways on Tuesday (26 November) completely restored the train services in the Valley, reports Asian News International (ANI).

The decision comes after the administration and Government Railways Police operating in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) conducted extensive security review and cleared the decks for the resumption of the services.

Trial runs for resuming the services were conducted by the Indian Railways on 10 November and 16 November on the stretches between Srinagar and Baramulla, and Srinagar and Banihal respectively. Post the trials, the services had been thrown open for the masses for five hours in a day.

Now, with the full-fledged resumption of rail services, the people will be able to travel on the trains for increased nine hours a day, from 8 am to 5 pm.
