Citing the financial irregularities pointed out in the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, the BJP in Karnataka has been preparing to launch an attack on former Karnataka chief minister and Congress party chief Siddaramaiah in the upcoming session. The report has to be tabled for debate during the session at Belagavi in December.

Deccan Herald quoted BJP MLC N Ravi Kumar as saying, “The CAG report 2016-17 says there was a 19 per cent mismatch in the state’s receipts and expenditure, which translates into Rs 35,000 crore of public money that is unaccounted for. Chief Minister Kumaraswamy tabled the CAG report. We now urge him to act against his predecessor Siddaramaiah for the irregularities.”

Furthermore, he said that there have been irregularities identified in the purchase of laptops, uniforms for school-going children, filling lakes and other water bodies in the state.

Deccan Herald quoted Dr C N Ashwathnarayan, MLA for Malleshwaram Assembly Constituency as saying, “It’s not that we did not suspect irregularities then. Now, there’s an audit report that substantiates the irregularities.”
