Republic TV editor-in-chief and senior journalist Arnab Goswami has moved a petition in the Supreme Court against Bombay High Court order denying him interim bail in the 2018 abetment to suicide case, reports Bar and Bench.

Goswami, who was arrested on 4 November from his residence by the Maharashtra police, has been currently lodged in Tajola jail.

Earlier on Monday (9 November), the Bombay HC refused to grant interim bail to the senior journalist and said that he and two other accused in the case could move bail applications before a sessions court for a decision within four days.

The Bombay HC bench of Justices S S Shinde and M S Karnik rejected the interim bail pleas of the three accused, saying “no case is made out for release of applicant under extraordinary writ jurisdiction”.

The bench said its observations were of “prima facie nature” and rejection of the interim bail applications “should not be construed as impediment”, reports Indian Express.

Goswami, Feroze Shaikh and Nitish Sarda on Monday approached the sessions court in Alibag and filed their bail applications.
