Arnab On Reddit: If Being Pro-Military And Pro-India Makes Us Right Wing, Then So Be It

Republic TV will hit your news screens very soon and Arnab Goswami is leaving no stone unturned to market his new venture. Today, he took to Reddit, a Q&A website, to answer questions by users on his upcoming channel, its financial backers, their ideology, his own worldview, New Delhi centric media, left liberals and much more.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, one of the investors in Republic TV, is seen close to Bharatiya Janata Party. Replying to a question that raised concern over his association with Chandrasekhar, Goswami said that ‘Rajeev is a nationalist and we share a great rapport.’ On a question related to far-left media outlet The Wire, he said that the online platform was using his name to get some followers “on their crumbling news site.”
On a question related to ideological leanings of his investors, he replied, “All Indians should be pro military and pro India. If that makes us right wing, then so be it.”
A supposedly leftist user when alluded to “being blinded by excessive patriotism”, Goswami said that there can never be enough nationalism. “We have forces that are trying to divide and break India from within. No nation can be soft on anti-nationals,” he added.
Regarding his own ideology, Goswami said that “there is no political positioning. There is right and wrong. I am for the right.”
Calling ‘left-liberal’ phrase a charade, Goswami said that, ‘Leftists cannot be liberal and those who are liberal cannot be leftists. So its also an oxymoron.’
Kashmir has still not returned to normalcy and it was obvious that someone asked his views on the situation in valley. Goswami believes that army and paramilitary needs to be given greater powers and the J&K police needs to empowered. Justifying tying up a Kashmiri youth in front of army jeep, he said “if that is the only way to stop an attack on our soldiers, I see no problem with it.”
On limits of Freedom of Speech, Goswami said that the limit is upto the point where you don’t question India's unity and sovereignty.
When asked about the favourite person of all the dignitaries and renowned personalities he has interviewed so far, Goswami said he enjoyed interviewing Rahul Gandhi greatly.
