The Indian Railways has launched its 14th direct train between the North-East and New Delhi today, with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju flagging off the Arunachal Express from Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh.

The weekly train, which will cover a distance of 2,013 km in 38 hours with 14 stoppages, is fully air-conditioned, with first class, two-tier and three-tier coaches. The train will also stop at Kanpur, Lucknow and Gorakhpur before stopping at the Anand Vihar terminal in New Delhi.

The train was announced by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on his visit to Arunachal Pradesh on 15 February. Rijuju was accompanied by Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain at the flagging off ceremony.

Rijiju thanked PM Modi and Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal for the train, saying that it’ll bring huge relief to the passengers from Arunachal Pradesh and the North-east. This will be the second express train connecting Arunachal Pradesh to the national capital.
