Delhi BJP chief and MP for North East Delhi, Manoj Tiwari along with fellow Delhi MPs Hans Raj Hans and Parvesh Sahib Singh in a news conference on Monday (1 July) alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy, Manish Sisodia who holds the education portfolio, were involved in a Rs 2,000 crore scam over the construction of classrooms reports DNA.

It has been alleged by the BJP that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government may have overpaid for the construction of classrooms and that many of those contracts had been given to the relatives of AAP leaders.

Tiwari said, "The Delhi government is building a 300 square foot room for 24.86 lakh rupees. That is 12,782 classrooms for 2,892 crore rupees. This could have been done for at most 800 crore. This is a scam of 2000 crore rupees."

He further alleged that buying a house in the area would cost you at least Rs 1,500 per square foot but the Kejriwal government is building these classrooms at Rs 8,800 per square foot and contracts have been given to associates and relatives.

Tiwari said he would hand over proof of the scam to the lokpal and demanded that Kejriwal and Sisodia both resign.
