Arvind Kejriwal (Twitter)
Aam Aadmi Party supremo and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that the party is working upon feedback from the people of Uttarakhand in its progression towards the assembly polls in 2022. Kejriwal said during his visit to Uttarakhand that the state deserves 'faujis' to steer leadership in the hill state.
AAP and Kejriwal have finally announced Colonel (Retd) Ajay Singh Kothiyal as the chief minister candidate from the state. He reportedly added that the political parties in Uttarakhand have only looted the state and people such as Kothiyal were protecting the country at the border.
Kejriwal added that Manish Sisodia had earlier visited the state and took feedback from the people of the state. He added that the party's decision to field Kothiyal is based on the feedback and the wishes of the people of the state.
He has been quoted as saying: "People here want a break from politicians who have only looted the state. They now want an Armyman as CM who will not spend his tenure filling his coffers but serve them." He added that people in the state are fed up with politicians leading the state.
Kejriwal added that Uttarakhand is the hub of Hindu pilgrimage, and said that the state deserves to be capital of Hindu pilgrimage. He added that Kothiyal and his work will help the state find its prominence as the centre of Hindu pilgrimage. Sections of the local media say that AAP will focus on nationalism and Hindutva via Kothiyal in Uttarakhand.
