A Zomato delivery executive who was accused of assault by a Bengaluru woman identified as Hitesha Chandranee has now given his side of the events.

As per a report in The NewsMinute, the delivery executive has claimed that the customer was abusive to him from the start and even hit him with a slipper. He added that the injury to her nose which she claimed was a proof of his assault was actually a result of her accidentally hitting her own nose with her ring.

The delivery agent claims that he was delayed in his delivery due to traffic jams and also apologised to her after he reached her door.

The order was marked as cash on delivery and the delivery agent adds that he expected to receive cash but the customer was very rude from the start.

As per the report, the customer took the food from him but refused to pay. He claims he plead for the money but she in-turn called him a slave.

In the meanwhile the Zomato customer care informed him that the order was cancelled, and he thus again futilely attempted to take back the food. The delivery agent claims that at this point he decided to leave but the customer started abusing him in Hindi and threw slippers at him.

"At this point, when I was walking towards the lift, she started using expletives in Hindi. She suddenly threw slippers at me and started hitting me. For my safety, when she was hitting me, I tried to use my hand to shield her blows", the delivery agent has been quoted as saying.

He claims that the bleeding on her nose was a result of her accidentally hitting herself on her nose using her finger ring.

"At this point, when she was trying to push my hand away, she accidentally hit herself with her finger ring on the nose, which led to the bleeding. Anybody who sees her face, will understand that this wouldn't be created by a punch. And I don’t wear any rings", he adds.

He was subsequently called to the Electronic City police station and questioned for two hours. He now has had to reportedly spend Rs 25,000 to avoid being arrested.

The Bengaluru woman had yesterday (10 March) posted a video on Twitter alleging that she was punched by an angry Zomato delivery agent after she complained about the late delivery.
