Women taking part in ‘Ayyappa Jyothi’ organised by Sabarimala Karma Samiti to protect the customs of Sabarimala Temple.
After the 'Ayyappa Jyothi' organised by the Sabarimala Karma Samiti became a huge success, Kerala's communist government has decided to come down heavily on the innocent participants of the light wall, reports The Times of India.
The Ernakulam police have reportedly taken cases against 1,400 devotees who took part in the 'light wall' (Ayyappa Jyothi) to raise awareness to protect the temple traditions and customs.
Police in Angamaly, Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha and Kuruppampady registered cases against unidentified persons who took part in the Jyothi under sections 147 (rioting), 283 (danger or obstruction to the public line of navigation) and 149 (unlawful assembly for common objective).
Apart from them, the Angamaly police have also registered cases against BJP leaders, AN Radhakrishnan, MN Gopi and MA Brahmaraj. The police also reportedly informed that cases would be taken against former PSC Chairman KS Radhakrishnan and former DGP MGA Raman once their participation is being confirmed from the video footages.
Thousands of devotees especially women, on 26 December took part in 'Ayyappa Jyothi.' The event was touted to be against the Kerala government's 'Women wall' on the new year eve in the name of upholding the renaissance values of the state.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
