Bajaj Chetak 2.0 (Pic via Twitter)
Bajaj Auto has managed to officially register the Chetak electric scooter’s design in Europe, reports Hindustan Times.
The registration of the patent has been done at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). Notably, Bajaj applied for registration in February this year and the firm received a registration that is valid until November 2029.
Bajaj had unveiled its electric version of Chetak in October last year and the retail sales commenced from January this year. Bajaj Auto had earlier stated that the company is evaluating the prospect of selling the Chetak in global markets.
It is in this respect that the patent registration will go a long way to protect the Bajaj Chetak from other competitors trying to copy its design.
It should be noted that Bajaj Chetak is available in two variants – the base-spec Urbane and the top-spec Premium. The Chetak electric is fit to deliver 95 km and 85 km in eco and sport, respectively.
