Cricketer turned BJP candidate from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir has challenged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for a debate on development, reports Financial Express. He also criticised Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) for its failure to develop Delhi.

He added that the last four years under AAP has only seen debates and dharnas.

Calling out Kejriwal to accept his challenge Gambhir said he has thrown the ball in CM’s court and dared him to come out and debate. He lambasted his opponent Atishi Marlena over her failed attempt to get his nomination cancelled over allegedly having more than one voter card.

He also said that AAP has no vision and its leaders are indulging in petty politics.

Moreover, he accused Kejriwal of the plight of Delhi over the last four years and said being the party leader he is responsible to answer for betraying the people.

Upon being asked about his entry to politics, Gambhir said, “I was influenced by the vision and strong leadership, whether it was after Uri or Pulwama shown by our PM, and the kind of development that has happened under him.” he added “I didn’t want to be just a Twitter sensation, so I thought I should take the political plunge.”

Gambhir, who frequently comments and tweets about latest news and developments in the country said the first thing he would do if elected he will try to solve the problem at the Ghazipur landfill site and provide clean water, tackle the issue of pollution and address the lack of parking space.

Delhi goes to the polls on 12 May for seven Lok Sabha seats, with the national capital mostly seeing a three-way contest between AAP, BJP and the Congress.
