Bengaluru Local Trains Won’t Need To Be Sent To TN For Repairs As City Gets Its Own Integrated Coach Care Centre

In case of any major repair works, the Mainline Electrical Multiple Units (MEMU) of the Bengaluru railway division no longer have to approach the railways’ workshops in the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.
A fully-integrated coach care centre was commissioned at Bengaluru’s Banaswadi on Tuesday (18 September) by General Manager of South Western Railways AK Gupta New Indian Express has reported. Krishi Infratech has built the project at a cost of Rs 17.78 crore.
“The stabling line runs to 386 metre, and the shunting neck runs to 405 metre, according to the report. This will enable stabling of ten coaches at any given point of time.”
The present 12-coach MEMU cars had to earlier be taken to Avadi or Tambaram workshops in Tamil Nadu for repairs. Now, most of the major repair works can be held at Banaswadi. The Baiyappanahalli coaching terminal is hoped to be commissioned next year during the early months.
