The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) officials have instructed the security guards at the metro station not to stop passengers travelling with foldable cycles if they pass through the baggage scanner, the Bangalore Mirror reports.

Various guards had stopped passengers with foldable cycles from boarding the metros, as they were most likely unaware that the foldable cycles are allowed. Civic activist and bicycle mayor Sathya Sankaran contacted metro officials to clarify the same.

Officials are encouraging passengers travelling with the foldable cycles to use the last compartment, which has provisions for wheelchairs, Sankaran said. “However, regular cycles won’t be allowed due to space issues. I too have carried my foldable cycles in metros and in Volvo buses several times”, he adds urging others to follow the same.
