Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway Work To Start Soon, Likely To Be Complete In Two Years

Work on upgrading the existing four-lane National Highway 275 (NH 275, formerly State Highway 17) connecting Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru with Mysuru to a six-lane expressway will begin in September according to state Public Works Minister H D Revanna, reports Deccan Herald. Once complete, the Rs 5,019.62 crore project – executed by Bhopal-based Dilip Buildcon – will bring down the journey between the two cities to 90 minutes.
The six-laning of the road involves widening of the existing four-lane, divided carriageway to six lanes and the addition of service lanes on both sides. There will be six bypasses and three elevated corridors in Bengaluru, Srirangapatnam, and Madddur.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has divided the project into two packages – Bengaluru to Nidagatta and Nidagatta to Mysore.
Around 63 per cent of the land has been acquired for the project with the balance 17 per cent due to be in the government’s hands in ten days. The NHAI mandates that 80 per cent land be acquired before construction starts.
Highway projects worth Rs 37,000 crore are currently underway in Karnataka of which the Centre is handling projects worth Rs 27,000 crore and the rest is being handled by the state government.
The NHAI has set a deadline of 24 months for Dilip Buildcon to finish the project.
