Bengaluru Riots Case: NIA Raids 43 Locations Including Offices Of Radical Islamist Outfits PFI, SDPI

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) yesterday (18 November) carried out searches at 43 locations spread across Bengaluru in relation to the rioting and violent attacks on the DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations in Bengaluru on 11 August, reports Livemint.

The locations included offices of radical Islamist outfits Popular Front of India (PFI) and its political arm Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), from where incriminating material such as swords, knives, iron rods was seized by NIA.

On 11 August, large scale rioting in Karnataka's capital city had left many police personnel injured. The damage had also been caused to public and private property and vehicles, including the police station buildings. Furthermore, the riots had fomented a state of panic in the nearby areas. NIA spokesperson said, that the riots were intended to cause terror in the society.

So far 124 accused have been arrested in the D J Halli police station case and 169 in the KG Halli police station case.
