Prime Minister’s BHIM App, a platform which enables quick payments using Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), has been downloaded over 10 million times within a span of 10 days, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) said in a statement on Monday (9 December). Two million transactions have been performed using the app, it added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today that he is "Delighted to know that in a span of 10 days there have been over 10 million downloads of the BHIM App”. Calling the app a "fine example of Make in India and how technology is being effectively used to end the menace of corruption and black money”, he said that it has made transactions “faster and easier.”

Given the overwhelming response that the app has received, NPCI is planing to move the transaction cap currently set at Rs 20,000 per day and Rs 10,000 per transaction. For USSD, the limit is set at RS 5,000.
