Bhim Army Chief Does U-Turn: Chandrashekhar Azad Withdraws Candidature Against PM Modi In Varanasi

In a never ending dilemma among the mahaghatbandhan ranks as to whom should they field against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad did a U turn and said that he is not going to contest, reports The Times of India.
“I am not contesting from Varanasi and I dont want my decision to strengthen BJP and Modi. We all must defeat BJP,” said Azad soon after making his move.
Declaring his support to the SP-BSP alliance, Azad said that the Dalit votes should remain intact to defeat Modi. His decision has come a few days after BSP supremo Mayawati accused Azad of dividing dalit votes.
Reacting on Mayawati’s remarks, Azad said, “Our very own people are accusing us agents of BJP. But then, I still wish she becomes PM”. Earlier, during Ambedkar Jayanti in Mhow on 14th April, Azad said that it is his Bhim Army that is taking care of Dalits and not Mayawati.
Even attacking the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Azad had earlier said, “Akhilesh’s father used to promote officers who unleashed atrocities on dalits. He says in Parliament that he want to see Modi again as PM. And now they accuse me of being a BJP agent”.
Azad had last month in a rally in Delhi announced that he’d take on Modi in Varanasi and sought support from Congress and other parties.
