Big Blow To Vijay Mallya, UK High Court Rejects Plea To Appeal Against Extradition Order In Supreme Court

Fraud and money-laundering accused fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya today (14 May) suffered a major setback after the United Kingdom High Court rejected his application wherein he had sought to appeal his extradition order in the UK Supreme Court.
As per reports, this was Mallya’s final appeal against the extradition order and he can now be extradited to India in 28 days. UK Home Secretary Priti Patel is now expected to take a final call in the matter.
Earlier in the day Mallya had taken to twitter to offer repaying all outstanding loans against him but stayed mum on paying back the interest accumulated.
In April Mallya had lost his appeal in an UK court against an extradition order to India on charges of fraud and money laundering to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore.
The High Court in London upheld a 2018 ruling to send him back to India on grounds that Mallya made a number of misrepresentations leading to the 2012 collapse of his company, Kingfisher Airlines
The former liquor tycoon had appealed to the High Court against his extradition to India at a hearing in February this year.
