Big Tech's Unprecedented Censorship Continues: Apple Bans Parler From Its App Store, Amazon To Remove It From AWS

Parler

In another crackdown by the "Big Tech", Apple today (10 January) removed social media app Parler from its app store. Google had removed Parler from its play story yesterday.

The tech giants have alleged that Parler does not moderate its content to remove"harmful or dangerous" post from its platform.

"Parler has not taken adequate measures to address the proliferation of these threats to people's safety. We have suspended Parler from the App Store until they resolve these issues," Apple said in a statement.

"Parler has not upheld its commitment to moderate and remove harmful or dangerous content encouraging violence and illegal activity, and is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines," it added.

Additionally Amazon another Big Tech firm has reportedly announced that it plans to remove Parler from its Amazon Web Services cloud hosting service.

Google had earlier removed Parler from its Play Store citing a similar rationale.

Despite the justification of the "Big Tech" companies, many have dubbed these actions as an unprecedented crackdown on free speech, with the voices bearing the brunt of these action being almost exclusively conservative.

It is largely believed that US President Donald Trump would start using Parler following his removal from Twitter and Facebook over alleged incitement of violence.

Despite its removal from Google and Apple app store, the Parler app can be easily downloaded from its official website, with the links provided in the bottom right hand corner of the website.
