Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan.
Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party has decided to contest the upcoming Bihar Assemble elections alone.
The party decided that it won't go to elections as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as incumbent Chief Minister (CM) Nitish Kumar is the face of the alliance, Hindustan Times reported. The LJP had already made it clear that it was not willing to contest elections under Kumar.
The decision, as per the report, was taken in a resolution passed at the Parliamentary Board meeting of the party on Sunday (4 October).
The LJP has off late raised its voice against the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) and CM Nitish Kumar. LJP chief Chirag Paswan has slammed him several times for not fulfilling his poll promises in the state.
The BJP-led NDA has already announced that it will fight the elections under the leadership of JDU president Nitish Kumar.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
