BJP youth leader Priyanka Sharma (@ANI/Twitter)
BJP youth leader Priyanka Sharma who was arrested in West Bengal for sharing a Met Gala themed meme on Mamata Banerjee has alleged that she was not released for around 18 hours despite being granted bail and was made to sign an apology.
She also claimed that she was not allowed to either meet her advocate or her family members during that time. Sharma though has asserted that she would continue to fight the case and won’t give a formal apology.
Yesterday (14 May), the Supreme Court had granted an unconditional bail to Sharma in the matter. The court had earlier insisted that Sharma apologise for the meme but changed its mind at the last moment.
Despite the unconditional bail, Sharma has alleged that she was made to sign an apology and detained for a long period of time without any pretext.
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BYJM) leader was arrested and sent to 14 day judicial custody on Friday (10 May) following a complaint by TMC leader Vibhas Hazra.
