Juhi Chawla (Instagram)
Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla has filed a suit against the implementation of 5G in India alleging harmful effects of radio frequency radiation.
Chawla has claimed that after doing her own research and studies regarding the RF radiation from wire-free gadgets and network cell towers, she has sufficient reason to believe that the radiation is extremely harmful and injurious to the health and safety of the people.
A spokesperson for Chawla states that it seeks a certification from defendants that 5G technology is safe to humankind, man, woman, adult, child, infant, animals and every type of organisms, to flora, to fauna, and in support thereof, to produce their respective studies regarding RF radiation through mobile cell towers, and if not already conducted, to also conduct an efficient research.
Incidentally, various Bollywood celebrities and activists were against the implementation of a metro shed in Aarey Milk Colony which was considered crucial for the Mumbai Metro 3 Colaba-Bandra-Seepz line.
The work on the Aarey metro shed was stopped after the Uddhav Thackeray led Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government came to power. An alternate land plot in Kanjurmarga has been identified for the same, which experts have termed as unfeasible.
The public transport infrastructure in Mumbai is largely dependant on its local train service, which is bursting at its seams, thereby necessitating a rapid scale-up of alternate transportation services like metro.
