‘Comedian’ Kunal Kamra (Facebook)
Alleged comedian Kunal Kamra was slammed by the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday night (19 April) for spreading a morphed photograph of the exchange to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A few days ago, while actively campaigning against Prime Minister Modi for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, Kamra shared a set of memes with the message “don’t vote for Modi”.
One of those memes contained a ticker on the Bombay Stock Exchange with the aforementioned message.
The BSE didn’t take too kindly to Kunal Kamra’s ‘joke’ and commented that it is extremely disappointed at the “unfortunate, unauthorised and illegal use of the BSE building for nefarious activities”.
It added that it reserves the right to take legal action against Kamra.
Kamra in response went on a ‘joke’ cracking spree which included samples like “Sensex of humour is down by many points “, “Do they have WiFi in jail” and that he metaphorically chocked and died by laughing.
It remains to be seen whether the BSE ends up taking some action against Kamra. The reported comedian has in recent times gained popularity on social media, mainly for his anti-Modi rhetoric which he usually spins as ‘jokes’.
The pinned tweet of Kamra continues to be his appeal to people to not vote for Modi during the Lok Sabha polls.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
