British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson has extended the invitation to Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to attend the 47th G7 Summit as a guest along with Australian and South Korean counterparts to deepen the "expertise and experience" around the table, reports Times of India.

Comprising the United Kingdom (UK), United States (US), Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the European Union, the G7 serves as a forum for the nations to come together and address shared challenges. This year's summit will be hosted by the UK from 11-13 June in the nation's Cornwall region.

The 10 nations partaking in this year's G7 Summit will represent over 60 per cent of the people living in democracies across the world, amounting to 2.2 billion people. More than half of these will be represented by Indian participation alone.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that this will be the first time in two years that the grouping will meet, given last year's summit hosted by the US was moved online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
