BrahMos Missile’s Vertical Steep Dive Version With ‘Ultimate Aircraft Carrier Killer’ Capability Successfully Tested

A Vertical Steep Dive version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test fired from a Sukhoi Su-30 MKI jet of the Indian Air Force as per BrahMos Aerospace CEO Sudhir Kumar Mishra, reports Indian Express.
A separate version of the missile with an enhanced range of up to 500 KM is also ready, thanks to India’s inclusion in the elite Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR).
The BrahMos missile operates at Mach 2.8 which is almost three times the speed of sound and is the heaviest weapon to be deployed on the Su-30 jets. India is the only country which has integrated long-range missiles on its fighter-jets.
The new deep dive version of BrahMos has the capability to strike a target vertically at 90 degrees and also has the ability to tilt 15 degrees prior to striking the target, Mishra has explained. This, according to him, means this version of the BrahMos missile can strike structures such as ‘caves’ more effectively.
