British Labour lawmaker Debbie Abrahams who is known for her criticism of Article 370’s abrogation was deported from India on Monday (17 February) after her visa was cancelled.
She had earlier landed in New Delhi via a flight from Dubai and was subsequently denied entry in India during the immigration process.
As per reports, Abrahams reached the immigration kiosk at the Delhi airport and presented her e-Visa and passport. The immigration officer while completing the formalities informed her that her visa was cancelled. She was later reportedly taken to a cordoned off area for deportees.
It may be recalled that Abrahams had expressed “grave concerns” over Article 370’s abrogation by the central government. She claimed that the move would result in increased tensions in the area and the precautionary troop movements were in violation of international humanitarian law.
