Following an early morning raid on terrorist apparatus deep inside Pakistan today (26 February) by twelve Mirage 2000s of the Indian Air Force (IAF), a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) was conducted at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence to discuss this development, reports The Tribune.

Defence minister Nrimala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Home Minister Rajnath Singh as well as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley were in attendance.

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other top security officials were also present at the meeting, along with important officials from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale will brief the media at 11.30 am today (26 February).

The IAF aircraft are believed to have crossed the Line of Control (LoC) at around 3.30 am and said to have dropped around 1,000 kg of bombs on terror camps belonging to jihadist terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed, which was responsible for the recent attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama in which more than 40 jawans were martyred.

Although no official confirmation has been received, reports suggest up to 200-300 casualties resulting from the IAF raid.
