CAG Flags Corruption In Delhi, Kejriwal Seeks Probe

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has pointed out a number of irregularities in the financial administration of the national capital, reports the Hindustan Times. Responding to this, the Delhi government said on Tuesday (3 April) that they would be seeking a federal investigation in at least 50 instances of swindling of government resources.
On Tuesday (3 April) in the Assembly, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tabled some of the key findings of the CAG, which included untracked funds amounting to Rs 7,270 crore and instances where ration shop owners cornered subsidised grains which were meant for the poor.
Arvind Kejriwal has since warned that no offender would be “spared” and has assured of “exemplary action”. The government has said it would be referring at least 50 cases pointed out by the CAG to the Central government for a CBI-conducted investigation.
Apart from financial irregularities, the CAG also mentioned cases of administrative oversight and inaction that led to delay in projects and inefficiency in operations.
