Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has asked Pakistanis to not live in “fool’s paradise” over the Kashmir issue, adding that no one was “waiting with garlands” at the United Nations (UN) to support Islamabad’s objections to India’s scrapping Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
"Giving vent to emotions is easy and raising objections is much easier. However it is difficult to understand the issue and move forward. They are not waiting for you with garlands in their hands,” Qureshi was quoted as saying by Economic Times.
“Do not live in a fool’s paradise. Let people of Pakistan and Kashmir be aware. Nobody is holding out an invitation,” he added.
Qureshi, purportedly disappointed with the global response to India’s move said that the issue may not go in favour of Pakistan at the UN Security Council, as any of the P5 may play a spoiler.
He further said that the Muslim Ummah may not back the Islamic Republic as India is a big market where many have invested. “They have interests. I have already indicated- the Arabs have a market,” he said.
“Though we talk about Islam and Ummah but members of Ummah have made several investments in India. They all have interests there,” he said.
