A lawyer in the city of Muzaffarpur, Bihar has filed a case against actor Anupam Kher and others allied in the upcoming political movie ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, the Tribune India has reported.

Lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha has filed the case in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court on Wednesday (2 January 2019), claiming that the movie is damaging the image of various top people.

The CJM court has admitted the case against the movie, which is based on Sanjaya Baru’s book which released in 2014. The hearing of the case will take place on 8 January 2019, three days before the movie is set to hit theatres.

Ojha, in his petition complains that actors Anupam Kher and Akshay Khanna, in the role of Former PM Manmohan Singh and press advisor Sanjaya Baru, have damaged their characters’ image. "It hurt me and many others," Ojha said.

According to the complaint filed by Ojha, he says Suzanne Bernert, Arjun Mathur and Aahana Kumra also damaged the image the characters they play-UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra. Ojha has also complained against the film director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and producers Sunil Bohra and Dhaval Gada.

On 3 January, the trailer of the movie reportedly disappeared from YouTube and Anupam Kher requested the video-sharing website to look into the issue.
