Caught While Ferrying Terrorists, J&K Police Strips DSP Davinder Singh Of Coveted Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal

The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) government on Wednesday (15 January) stripped deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Davinder Singh of the prestigious Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal following his arrest along with two wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists.
The withdrawal of the medal which had been conferred on DSP Singh on 14 August 2018 was done through an order issued today by the Home Department signed by Principal Secretary to J&K government, Home Department, IAS Shaleen Kabra.
The order said that J&K has stripped the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry awarded to DSP Davinder Singh consequent to his arrest while trying to assist terrorists to travel outside J&K and recovery of arms and ammunition "which amounts to disloyalty and conduct that has brought upon the force into disrepute.''
Refuting the reports, the force had asserted that the J&K Police is known for its professionalism & does not spare anyone including its own cadres if found involved in any unlawful act or unbecoming conduct.
"We have done it in the past in many cases and now in this particular case where it has caught its own officer on its own input and action and would continue to abide by our code of conduct and the law of the land which is the same for everyone," it said.
