Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is yet to certify Adirindhi, the Telugu version film Mersal, which was scheduled to release on Friday, The News Minute has reported.
According to the website’s report, the producers of the film have announced that Adirindhi would not release on Friday. Executive Producer and Marketing Head at Thenandal Films, Aditi Ravindranath, has said on Twitter that the film’s new release date would be updated in the coming days.
The roadblock comes soon after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Tamil Nadu the removal of scenes in Mersal that criticised policies such as Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Digital India initiative be removed.
The BJP had protested against the film over dialogues allegedly flaying the GST. Tamil Nadu BJP leaders, including state unit chief Tamilisai Soundararajan and national secretary H Raja, have strongly opposed references to the GST in the movie and claimed dialogues in it were “highly inappropriate”.
