CBI Files A Case Against Sitting Allahabad HC Judge SN Shukla, Retired HC Judge IM Quddusi On Charges Of Corruption

In an unprecedented move, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a corruption case against a sitting Allahabad High Court judge Justice S N Shukla for allegedly favouring a medical college. The CBI carried out searches at his Lucknow residence on Friday (6 December).

The sitting judge is alleged to have obtained illegal gratification for passing a favourable order in matter regarding Prasad Institute of Medical Science, Lucknow.

Along with Justice Shukla, the agency has named IM Quddusi, a retired judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Bhagwan Prasad Yadav and Palash Yadav of the Prasad Education Trust, the trust and two individuals Bhavna Pandey and Sudhir Giri in the case.

The accused have been booked under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code along with Sections 7, 8, 12, and 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention Of Corruption Act.

In its FIR, CBI said that Justice Shri Narayan Shukla abused his official position and entered into criminal conspiracy. “to obtain illegal gratification in order to obtain pecuniary advantage for BP Yadav and Palash Yadav of Prasad Education trust...,"

In its FIR, the CBI said that Prasad Institute of Medical Science, Lucknow was debarred by Govt. of India for admitting medical students for the forthcoming 2 years because of sub-standard facilities and non-fulfilment of the required criteria in May, 2017 along with 46 other medical colleges who were debarred on similar grounds.

As per the FIR, a conspiracy was hatched between BP Yadav, Chairman, Prasad Educational Trust, IM Quddusi, , Shawana Pandey, a private person through Sudhir Giri of Venkateshwara Medical College (Meerut) in order to obtain a favourable order from Justice Narayan Shukla at Lucknow Bench by corrupt and illegal means
