The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered a case against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on the allegations of awarding a tender for development, maintenance and operation of Hotels at Ranchi and Puri to a private company dealing with hotels in the year 2006.
The CBI has also registered a case against the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief's wife Rabri Devi, son Tejashwi Yadav, a former managing director of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, two directors of a private company and a private marketing company. Searches are being conducted today at 12 locations including Delhi, Patna, Ranchi, Puri and Gurgaon.
Lalu served as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009 under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government headed by Manmohan Singh.
