Central Vista Redevelopment: Tata Projects Begins Work On New Parliament Building Within Weeks Of Winning Bid

Within a fortnight since it had won the bid to construct the new Parliament building under the government's ambitious Central Vista redevelopment programme, Tata Projects has begun the work on the project, reports Economic Times.
To aid the construction process, the entry and exit points of the existing Parliament House complex would be altered as a temporary measure. Also, the Parliament House's annexe reception would be shifted. It presently is adjacent to the Parliament buildings towards Talkatora Road and will be shifted to the side near the Pandit Pant Marg.
Tata Projects had beaten construction sector peer Larsen & Toubro (L&T) with a bid of Rs 861.9 crore for the building of the new Parliament building next to the existing one. This was very close to L&T's bid of Rs 865 crore.
The government has set a strict deadline for the project and wants the new Parliament building to be ready by March 2022, in time for the celebration of the completion of 75 years of India's independence from the British Raj.
The proposed new Parliament building shall be a reinforced cement concrete framed structure.
Apart from constructing the building, Tata Projects Limited’s financial bid also includes a five-year maintenance contract, according to the bid documents.
