In a strong push for the Jal Jeevan Mission and robust infrastructure building in the State of Uttar Pradesh (UP), the Centre has allocated Rs 10,870.5 crore to the State Government for the ongoing 2021-22 period, the highest allocation made for any State, reports Livemint.
This gains significance as the allocation announced by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti for 2021-22 is more than four times the allocation in 2020-21. It should be noted that the State Government has assured to achieve the goal of providing water to every rural household by 2024.
It should be noted that just last week, the Union Ministry had announced an allocation of Rs 6,998.97 crore for the State of West Bengal. Meanwhile, Rs 5,117 crore and Rs 3,410 crore have been allocated for Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat for 2021-22.
The Union Budget had earmarked an allocation of Rs 50,000 crore for the ambitious project to provide tapped water connection to every rural household by 2024.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
