Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated on Monday (25 July) that Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has agreed to build five ring roads in north Karnataka cities to ease traffic congestion in the region.

Recently, Bommai met Gadkari in New Delhi and said that the Union Minister agreed to build five ring roads to relieve traffic congestion in Raichur, Koppal, Belagavi Kalburgi, and Gadag of North Karnataka.

“The Union Minister asked to give a Goods and Service Tax (GST) exemption on material used to build these roads, to which the state agreed. The road transport ministry will do a detailed project soon for these projects,” the CM said, according to the Deccan Herald.

Gadkari agreed to give priority consideration to the CM's request to build 25 railway over bridges in various locations, primarily in North Karnataka.

Bommai also met with Union Commerce and Textile Minister Piyush Goyal, who agreed to sanction two textile parks. According to the Deccan Herald report, the Chief Minister had requested Goyal to establish Mega Textile Parks in Kalburgi and Bijapur.

For these two parks, the state government would ask investors to invest in the Global Investors Meeting in Karnataka, according to the Chief Minister.
