Charlie Hebdo To Launch German Edition

French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, which was the target of a jihadi attack in January 2015 is launching a German edition in December. 200,000 copies are expected to be printed of the German edition, set to launch on 1 December, due to the overwhelming support it received from Germans post the attack. A spokesperson said that it would initially contain translated versions of articles are cartoons and that they were looking to collaborate with German cartoonists later on to create German content. The Charlie Hebdo Survivor’s Edition, which came out a week after the attack that killed its editorial staff had sold 70,000 copies in Germany.

The French edition sells close to a thousand copies week in Germany currently.

Charlie Hebdo currently sells 60,000 copies a week with 50,000 subscribers. Some of the content is available in English on their website.
