Chennai: CPWD To Build 726 Flats For CBIC, Rs 245-Crore Proposal Cleared

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) is in coordination with Chennai Customs to construct 726 residential flats for the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) at Central Revenue Colony, Anna Nagar, reports New Indian Express.

The flats are being constructed using Tunnel Form Technology, which is a fast and highly efficient on-site system of construction. The walls will be cast in an industrial warehouse, which will be an inverted L shape, and will be assembled on-site. The project is estimated to cost Rs 245 crore.

Of the 726 flats to be built, 288 will be Type-II with 660 sq ft, 288 will be Type-III with 770 sq ft and 150 will be Type-IV with an area of 1,300 sq feet. The flats will be built in six towers with a ground floor and 18 more stories. The project will be developed by DEC Infra & Projects Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad.

The salient features of the flats will include modular kitchens, wardrobes, high-quality fixtures, passenger lifts, service lifts, etc. The project is planned to be completed by December 2021. The foundation stone was laid by Chairman of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, S Ramesh.
