China moved back around 10,000 troops from depth areas near LAC in Eastern Ladakh near the line of control (LAC), reports ANI.

These troops were deployed from April 2020, in the traditional training areas of Chinese army located around 150 kilometres beyond the Indian side of LAC.

However, the deployment near the front lines remains the same where soldiers of both India and China are in an eye to eye situation in several areas.

According to some sources, the reason for the withdrawal of troops from the depth areas could be due to harsh winter conditions in the area.

In the summer of 2020, China had deployed around 50,000 troops on its side near the LAC.

Later, incursions by China into the Indian side had led to violent clashes between the Himalayan neighbours.

Since then India has heightened the vigil and is keeping a close track of activities on the Chinese side.

On Tuesday, Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane said that there has been no change in the status quo in Eastern Ladakh.

He expressed confidence on finding a resolution to the present situation along LAC based on the principle of mutual and equal security.

General Naravane added that there is an increased cooperation between China and Pakistan, and a two-front threat is something India should be prepared to deal with.
