Yogi Adityanath-led Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) government is all set to launch probes into all major projects undertaken by the Samajwadi Party (SP) government under Akhilesh Yadav, including the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, the Economic Times has reported.

On Thursday, amidst reports of corruption, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, after he assumed office as the Public Works Department Minister, had said that his government will look into all the major projects completed under the previous government .

During the election campaign, the BJP had accused Akhilesh Yadav government of being involved in corruption and claimed that the Lucknow-Agra Expressway was the costliest in the country. Therefore, the government is likely to initiate a probe into the project.

The BJP has also pointed to other projects, such as the Gomti River Front. Adityanath today inspected the site of the project along with Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and sought details from engineers and officers who have been connected to the project.

The Rs 1,500-crore Gomti River Front Development Project made news when Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti accused the then government of corruption and said that a probe will be initiated if the BJP comes to power.

The SP’s election campaign, which had the tag-line kam bolta hai, was woven around these projects.
