Addressing a video-conference meeting with the chief ministers (CMs) of states, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi on Thursday (2 April) said the centre and the states required a “common exit strategy” for the staggered re-emergence of the population after the 21-day lockdown, NDTV reported.

“It is important to formulate a common exit strategy to ensure staggered re-emergence of the population once the lockdown ends,” said the PM.

He also added that it would not be an usual business after the lockdown and certain safety measures would be required, as per a statement released after the meeting.

The CMs and the PM also discussed the steps being taken for contact tracing of those who have tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by the virus.

The virtual meet came in the wake of a sudden rise in the number of infected cases in the country mainly due to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi Nizamuddin.
