After reports suggesting a significant drop in the income of Sabarimala amidst restrictions by the police, the Devaswom Minister for Kerala, Kadakampally Surendran, has said that the reduction in revenue would affect Devaswom Board adversely, reports Mathrubhumi.

"Income drop wouldn't affect government, but would significantly affect the salary disbursements for the board," said the Minister.

However, the Minister slammed Sangh Parivar and RSS for purposefully trying to reduce the revenue of the temple. He said the government was expecting more revenue in the coming days.

BJP leadership rebutted the idea and said it was the lack of facilities by the government and the heavy restriction imposed at the temple as the prime reason for the drastic drop in revenue this season. This season also saw a decline in footfall compared to previous seasons.

Reports suggest that massive arrests are continuing at Sabarimala. As much as 74 devotees got arrested yesterday (24 November) midnight for conducting group prayers after the closing of the nada (sanctum door). They were later taken to custody on charges of violating the curfew order.
