Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday (5 March) accused the Congress of helping the Bharatiya Janata Party by splitting the anti-BJP vote in Delhi.

Kejriwal’s accusations come in the light of the Congress party’s refusal to forge an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party.

“At a time when the whole country wants to defeat Modi- Shah duo, Cong is helping BJP by splitting anti-BJP vote. Rumours r that Cong has some secret understanding wid BJP. Delhi is ready to fight against Cong-BJP alliance. People will defeat this unholy alliance,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Congress Delhi unit chief Sheila Dikshit announced that the party will not enter into an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the upcoming general elections, News 18 has reported.

As per the report, the decision came after Congress president Rahul Gandhi had called a meeting of the leaders of the Delhi unit of the party to discuss possibility of an alliance.

AAP has been reportedly for long trying to convince Congress to forge an alliance with it to defeat BJP in Delhi but to no avail.

"We are tired of convincing the Congress to form an alliance, but they do not understand. If there is an alliance, the BJP will lose all the seven Lok Sabha seats it currently has in Delhi," Kejriwal said at a recent rally in Chandni Chowk area of New Delhi, as reported by Times Now. "I don't know what they have in their minds," he further said.
