The unabated spree of mass resignations among the ranks of the Indian National Congress (INC) office bearers continues as 35 more of them from Uttar Pradesh (UP) Congress Committee resigned on Saturday (29 June) owning up responsibility for the party’s debacle in the Lok Sabha elections, reports The Indian Express.

Senior vice president of the party's UP unit, Ranjit Singh Judev, general secretary Aradhna Mishra Mona, vice president R P Tripathi, all submitted their resignations. Moreover, senior Congress leader from Maharashtra, Nana Patole also tendered his resignation from the position of Kisan Congress chief.

The movement of mass resignations took off after Madhya Pradesh in-charge for the Lok Sabha elections, Deepak Babaria and the Congress party's Goa unit's president, Girish Chodankar had tendered their resignations. The mass resignations took place as some 300 odd leaders of the party converged at the All India Congress Committee's headquarters in a show of solidarity with Rahil Gandhi.

Others senior and notable leaders who have quit party posts include media coordinator Rajiv Bakshi, joint media coordinator Piyush Mishra, Onkar Nath Singh, Amarnath Agarwal and Mukesh Singh Chauhan, Priyanka Gupta and Ashok Singh.
